about the artist
Based just outside of downtown Columbus, Kaily Drake has academic experience from both the Savannah College of Art and Design and The Ohio State University, where she received her B.F.A. in Studio Art. Practiced in mixed media, drawing, and printmaking, Kaily ultimately landed on her love of painting to fill the hole in her artistic heart. What started as a chance project to create a sidewalk sign advertising drinks for one of her favorite local coffee shops has since evolved into a passion to create art that has the opportunity to bring communities closer together and customers into the doors of beloved small businesses in the Columbus area.

All you need is an event or business that makes you want to get the word out, and I’ll take it from there! To start, I’ll get to know a little bit about your vision via phonecall or in-person consultation. Then I’ll make a rough digital mockup to give you an idea of the final product and allow revisions to be made. Finally, it’s sign time!

Pricing is based on both the project's scope and your desired timeline. A 30% deposit of the final price will be required after the digital mock-ups are approved. For the most popular product- a double-sided wooden sidewalk signs including the metal frame- pricing ranges from $800-$1,100. For paper signs intended for indoor use, pricing ranges from $200-$500.

Using ½ inch birch wood panels, I prime the sign with a preservative that will protect the wood from bugs and moisture warping. From there the wood is gessoed and painted using artist-grade acrylic paints. To top it all off, your new beautiful sign is protected by a clear sealant that keeps out water and UV light that would otherwise fade the color over time.
